A meeting of the initiative group was held on May 20, 2017 in New Delhi, during which the National Preparatory Committee (NPC) for the XIX World Festival of Youth and Students was formed. Along with such large-scale youth organizations such as the All-India Youth Federation, the All-India Federation of Students, the youth associations of the Indian National Congress Party and the Communist Party of India, the NPCs included: the Indian Association of Russian Compatriots, as well as the partner organizations of the RCSC: the International Federation of Indian-Russian Youth Clubs (IFIRYC) and the BRICS International Forum (India).
The session covered the main stages of preparation for the Festival, the goal of which is to consolidate the youth world community around the idea of justice, strengthen international ties, and develop interethnic and intercultural interaction.
During the meeting, members of the Indian NPC supported the idea of including the slogan “Hindi Rusi bhai bhai” – “Indians and Russian brothers” of Soviet-Indian friendship in the 1950s-1980s as the official symbol of the Indian delegation, which will be actively promoted by both sides.
This year on 25 May Delegates from the Indian NPC will take part in the III International Preparatory Meeting in Sri Lanka, following which the Final Extended Discussion Program of the Festival will be approved.
The World Festival of Youth and Students, which will be held in the Russian Federation from October 14 to 22, 2017, involves the participation of a representative delegation from the Republic of India (up to 250 people).
In total, 20,000 people will take part in the Festival: well-known and authoritative youth in the youth environment, representatives of the most progressive youth of the planet – leaders of youth NGOs, representatives of creative professions, engineers, journalists, teachers and scientists, politicians.
