Mrs. Purnima Anand, President of the BRICS International Forum and International Federation of Indo-Russian Youth Clubs is going to participate in the forthcoming BRICS Business Forum, which is being held on the sidelines of the Summit on 3-4 September 2017.

Mrs. Anand will be on the official visit to china from 01-06 September 2017.

The BRICS Business Forum is likely to be addressed by Mr. Xi Jinping, President of the People’s Republic of China and other Heads of State.

The BRICS grouping has evolved over time and it offers tremendous potential and avenues for economic cooperation amongst its businesses. India attaches a lot of importance to this grouping and this was reflected in the series of engagements, programs and workshops that were held across the country during 2016 when India held the Presidency of BRICS. In 2017, China, which now holds the rotating Presidency of BRICS, will be hosting the Leaders’ summit in Xiamen and Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be joining for the Summit meeting of leaders.

The BRICS Business Forum, which is being held on the sidelines of the Summit meeting is an important mechanism for promoting business and economic ties amongst companies from the BRICS grouping. Since its inception in 2010, the BRICS Business Forum has been an important platform for the business communities of BRICS countries to
work together for cooperation and development, aiming to facilitate dialogue and consultation among these countries, and deepen trade and economic cooperation. China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) has taken the responsibility of hosting the 2017 BRICS Business Forum which is scheduled to be held in Xiamen from Sept. 3 to 4 during the BRICS Summit.

Centering on the theme of “BRICS: Stronger Partnership for a Brighter Future” of this year’s BRICS Summit, this business forum will witness deep discussion on such topics as trade & investment, connectivity, financial cooperation & development, and “Blue Economy”. The forum will include the opening ceremony, plenary session, closing ceremony, etc. As a significant activity during the BRICS Summit, this forum will invite a total of 800 to 1,000 leaders of relevant countries and the representatives of business community.
