BRICS XVI Summit Hosts Round Table on India-Russia Academic Collaboration

As part of the XVI BRICS Summit, a high-level round-table dialogue on India-Russia educational cooperation, titled "India-Russia Academic Collaboration," was held yesterday at the Constitution Club of India, New Delhi. The event was organized by the BRICS International Forum in collaboration with the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, alongside leading universities from Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR).

The round-table brought together distinguished academic and government representatives to explore and advance strategic educational partnerships between India and Russia.

The program commenced with a formal reception for the Financial University delegation at Jamia Millia Islamia University, followed by a ceremonial welcome at the Constitution Club of India. The distinguished guests were greeted with traditional flower arrangements and a ceremonial lamp lighting, symbolizing the shared vision for advancing academic collaboration and cultural exchange.

Ms. Purnima Anand, President of the BRICS International Forum, delivered the opening remarks, emphasizing the crucial role that academic alliances play within the BRICS framework. In her address, she highlighted the forum’s commitment to fostering educational exchanges as a foundation for mutual growth and global understanding between BRICS nations.

Following Ms. Anand’s address, Mr. Stanislav Prokofiev, Rector of the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, delivered a greeting address, commending India’s significant educational advances. He affirmed Russia’s commitment to strengthening academic cooperation with Indian institutions. As a token of appreciation, Mr. Prokofiev was presented with a symbolic Indian souvenir.

Mr. Pavel Seleznev from the Financial University then presented an insightful discussion on BRICS development initiatives and the university’s pivotal role in promoting knowledge exchange across BRICS nations. Keynote addresses were also delivered by Dr. Ashu Rani, Vice Chancellor of Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar University, Agra; Dr. P.B. Sharma, Vice Chancellor of Amity University, NOIDA; and Dr. Alok Mishra, Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Education, Government of India. These dignitaries emphasized the growing need for enhanced academic and research collaborations between India and Russia.

Ms. Liliya Prikhodko, Head of International Relations at the Financial University, presented on the university’s global academic engagements, illustrating its leadership in fostering international partnerships.

The round-table discussions brought together representatives from private Indian universities, exploring avenues to strengthen joint research initiatives, foster cultural understanding, and facilitate student exchanges between the two nations.

The program concluded with the national anthems of India and Russia, followed by a formal vote of thanks. The evening closed with a high tea and formal dinner, where the Russian delegation was honored, reaffirming the mutual respect and commitment to collaborative growth between Indian and Russian academic institutions.

This event marks a significant step towards deepening India-Russia educational ties and further advancing the shared academic goals within the BRICS framework.
